ISE 2008 only 11 days away

Now in its 5th Edition, Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), which will be held again at the RAI in Amsterdam from the 29th to the 31st of January, has become the No. 1 show for Professional AV and Electronic System Integrators. Almost 50% bigger this year with 420,000 square feet of floorspace in seven halls, there promises to be lots of new things to see.

iTunes Digital Copy from Fox DVD goes under the microscope

Where the failed promise of Managed Copy on Blu-ray and HD DVD left us all hanging, Apple, iTunes, and Fox have oddly picked up the pieces. As paradoxically quietly announced at this week's Jobsnote, the new Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest DVD comes with an included movie file that one can pull off the disc onto their machine — but only by making use of an included code (and a copy of iTunes with a valid account, of course), which ensures the DRM is still there. Accessories company, Logitech, demonstrated at its booth at CES it new Harmony One programmable remote control device, which the company says will give families one-touch access to up to fifteen devices simultaneously. The device features sculpted, back lighted buttons in arranged in logical zones designed make it easy to navigate even in the dark; and the ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in the user’s hand.

Consumer Electronics Industry to show 6.1% growth in 2008 (CES 2008)

The US consumer electronics industry will continue to defy the credit squeeze and any subsequent downturn in 2008 by totting up 6.1 percent sales growth – according to the Consumer Electronics Association. The forecast also includes warning signs that the sector needs to find a new wave of innovative mass-market products if its massive growth this decade is to continue.
